Volunteers are a valuable park resource.  A wide variety of people and interests are represented by the Foundation.  Whether you are interested in birding, native plants, conservation, children, environmental education, recreation, fitness, writing, antiques, local history, carpentry, or "giving something back" for the pleasure the park has given you, there is a Foundation project that could use your special attention.

  • Bluebird Trail

Nest boxes to encourage nesting of the Eastern Bluebirds have been built by members of the Foundation and placed around the park.  Volunteers monitor and maintain the boxes.

  • Butterfly Garden

On the grounds of the Union School House-Texas Township Hall, volunteers help plant and maintain the garden that attracts several different butterfly species.

  • Union School House and Texas Township Hall

Brought to the Springs in 1995 through 1996, these buildings are the focal point of interpretive and visitors center.  Volunteers help maintain the buildings and act as hosts for visitors.
